Mapping Need: Geospatial Analysis for Optimizing Park Access
Published in CalGIS 2026, 2026
This poster focuses on the geospatial analysis supporting the broader park-access optimization project. It highlights how measures of need are built and why those upstream choices matter when they become inputs to a decision model.
Contribution: supported the connection between geospatial need assessment and downstream optimization decisions.
Method: used spatially informed measures of access and need to examine how model inputs shape recommendations for park planning.
Result and impact: helped communicate that optimization quality depends heavily on how access and need are represented before the solver is ever run.
